Fateful Past, Successful Future

Fear. Despair.
The young singer was dreaming about a time long past. It was storming hard on the night before the concert.
Sadness. Hopelessness.
He was trying to forget… his brother, by the name of Tommy, but who usually went by the nickname of The Reflex due to his amazing athletic skills.
Pain. Rage.
A powerful thunderclap that seemed to match the young man's anger struck with unbelievable force. Simon awoke with a startled jolt.
He had been thinking about his brother, and how he nearly killed Simon, leaving him to die. His wounds had healed since then, but he could not shake the feeling that the one now known officially as The Reflex would come back for him once he realized that Simon was still alive.
But Simon had other things to worry about. He had the big concert in Tulsa tomorrow with the rest of Duran Duran, and he couldn't afford to worry about things while singing. His emotions tended to affect the entire meaning of the song. Besides, he enjoyed being chased down by rabid fangirls.

Tomorrow came fast. The rain had fully subsided and Simon was in much better spirits when morning came.
But he was not to be let off easily. As soon as he trudged down the stairs, keyboardist Nick Rhodes walked up to Simon and stared at him worriedly.
"What's wrong?"Simon had no idea why Nick could've been so worried about him.
"What do you mean what's wrong??? I heard you tossing and turning all night!"
"Really? Hmm…" Simon knew why Nick was worried.
"Oh, I get it. It's because it's opening night, isn't it?" Nick grinned at him and laughed. Simon glared at him.
"No, Nick, it's not that. It's… it's my brother."
"Oh. You know, if you want, we could play the song at the concert. We were actually going to play all our newer songs, but we could…" Nick trailed off when he realized the look on Simon's face. "Simon, I've never seen you like this before. Are you okay?"
"N-Nick I'm fine. Let me get ready for the concert."
Simon quickly finished getting dressed up for the concert and Duran Duran left for America.
As soon as they got off the plane at the Tulsa International Airport, a gigantic paparazzi swarmed around them. Duran Duran had to stop to sign close to a thousand autographs before a few bodyguards showed up and stopped the horde of fans. The fans soon dispersed and the band was able to keep going.
They didn't get but ten feet when a voice came up behind them.
"So, you're Duran Duran, huh?" the band, startled, jumped and spun around to face the unknown person. That person was Cassie Skinner, the biggest Duran Duran fan in the universe. Unexpectedly, Simon stepped forward to face Cassie.
"Yeah, that's us. You seem to be about fourteen years old. I'm surprised you know about us." Simon wasn't the only one who was shocked. The rest of Duran Duran was amazed that a girl of fourteen could have even heard of them.
"Uh, yeah, I am fourteen, actually. I'm also your biggest fan in the entire universe. I heard you were having a concert today at the most prestigious venue ever to be seen in America, so naturally I got front row tickets. By the way, I'm Cassie. Don't bother introducing yourselves individually, I know the original five when I see them."
"Uh, okay, Cassie, we're supposed to be at the Brady Theatre today, and we have no idea where that is. Could you help us?" Simon nervously spoke to Cassie.
A look that expressed shock, nervousness and utter joy all at the same time appeared on Cassie's face. "Of course I'll help you!!!" Cassie was leaping sky-high for joy at this point. She ran towards Duran Duran and proceeded to vigorously shake the hands of each of the surprised and slightly startled members and then proudly show off the concert tickets.
Simon was the first to be brave enough to speak to the rabid fangirl that stood before them. "Ok, Cassie. Let's go."
"Whoa, Simon, not so fast. In case you haven't noticed, I'm fourteen and therefore not old enough to drive. I need to get the OK from my mom first." Cassie was still elated at the thought of escorting Duran Duran to the Brady Theatre.
They all walked, Cassie in front of the group, to the front doors of the airport, where Cassie's mother was waiting. Cassie stepped forward to speak with her.
"So, Cassie, are you finished going head over heels for your idols?"
"Oh, my God, mom, you used sarcasm. And actually, I have a surprise for you."
Duran Duran then proceeded forward to face Cassie's very shocked mother.
"Oh, my God, it's Duran Duran."Cassie's mom stared in utter amazement at the fact that Duran Duran was standing there before her. Cassie just stood there and smiled.
"So, mom, first of all, I want to introduce you to the best band in the universe. And second of all, could we please escort them to their venue for the concert tonight? Please, please please please?????"
"You're lucky I have enough gas in the Jeep to get to the theater and then get us home."Cassie's mom smiled mischievously, and instantly Cassie shrieked with joy loudly enough to make anybody go deaf had there not been all the airport noise already.
Cassie's mom laughed and they all walked towards the Jeep.
They finally got to the vehicle and they all piled in. Cassie, after about ten minutes of begging and pleading, got what she called the epic honor of sitting next to Simon, the 'most epic singer in the entire universe' according to her.
They finally arrived at the Brady Theatre about half an hour later. They all got out of the car and walked toward the entrance. Suddenly, Simon began to speak to Cassie. "So, Cassie, I saw you had four tickets back at the airport. So, as a token of our gratitude for escorting us here, I present to you four backstage passes valid for any of our concerts. The best part: no expiration dates! These are the only ones I have. Nobody else gets to meet us after the concert. It's just you and whoever goes with you." Simon reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out four backstage passes, as promised, and handed them to Cassie.
"Whoa… Simon, really, backstage passes? Ah, thanks!" Cassie took the passes and placed them in the pocket of her tote bag, which had designs of Duran Duran and various Nintendo characters on it.
"Oh, Cassie, by the way, we'll need help setting up. Here's a handwritten, autographed, monogrammed letter giving you and your party entrance to the auditorium."
Simon pulled out a piece of paper and jotted down the note, then autographed and monogrammed it and handed it to Cassie.
"Thanks, Simon! See you there!"
They got to the entrance of the theater, the band thanked Cassie and her mom, and they parted ways only to meet again at eight PM that night. Luckily for Cassie, the concert was on a Saturday.
On their way home, Cassie's mom mentioned the passes. "So, Cassandra, backstage passes, huh? How many did you get?"
"Four. One for each person in the party. Who's going, again?"
"Let's see… There's you, me, Sarah, and Geoff."
"Awesome! Hey, wait, you won't have any gas in the Jeep when we get home."
"Remember, Cassandra, Nana is letting us use the van to get there."
"Oh, yeah… Awesome!!!"
Cassie and her mom got to the house about five minutes later. They exited the car and entered the house, where Cassie's best friend Sarah and Cassie's mom's fiancée Geoff were waiting for them.
"So, Cassie, what happened? Did you meet the British hotness that is Duran Duran?" Sarah, also a big fan of Duran Duran, was the first to speak.
"Actually, Sarah, I did." Cassie grinned proudly from ear to ear.
"WHAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sarah screamed at Cassie, in complete and utter shock. Cassie just stood there laughing.
"It's okay, Sarah! We get to go to their concert tonight! And, we get an extra treat…!" Cassie smiled mischievously at Sarah.
"What's the treat…?"
Cassie whipped out the backstage passes and showed them to Sarah. "HA! four backstage passes, one for each of us. Simon LeBon himself gave these to me as a present for escorting them to the Brady Theatre." Sarah snatched one and Cassie chuckled with amusement at the overjoyed look on Sarah's face.
The hours passed, and eventually the time to go to the concert came. At seven-fifty PM, all four of them climbed into Cassie's nana's van and they set off for the theater.
They arrived at seven fifty-five, just five minutes before the concert was to begin. They entered the theater and pushed their way to the front of the line to confront the guards.
One guard saw them suddenly at the front of the line and stepped forward to try to send them back to the theater entrance.
"You'd better have a very good reason for cutting in line." The huge, burly guard glared at them. but the group was not intimidated.
"We have backstage passes and special permission from Duran Duran to help them set up before the concert." Cassie's mom bravely stepped forward with the passes and the letter and showed them to the guard.
"Well look at this. You do. Fine. Go inside." The guard seemed dejected that he couldn't force them to go to the back of the line. The group walked into the auditorium towards the front row of seats. Simon emerged from the curtains and saw Cassie. He waved to her, and she waved back.
"Hey, Cassie, we need you back here!" Simon called to her. Cassie grabbed Sarah and they ran up the steps to go backstage. They met up with the band behind the curtains. Cassie introduced Sarah to each individual member of the band, which Sarah was elated about. They then proceeded to set up the instruments on the stage. They finished just in time to run back to their seats right before the crowd of fans flooded into the auditorium.
About five minutes later, the concert began. They started with Hungry Like the Wolf, then went to Falling Down, then Union of the Snake, then Ordinary world, then Come Undone, All You Need is Now, and then, after that song, Simon stood up in front of the audience at the edge of the stage, and the whole theater grew silent.
He began, "As you all know, I have had some family disputes lately. My brother, Tommy, left the family to go his own way. He did not come back the same as he left. For those of you who know about this, your sympathy would be greatly appreciated. Now, on a more cheerful note, We had some nice girls help us set up before the concert. If I could call Sarah Sharp and Cassie Skinner to the stage, please?"
Cassie and Sarah shrieked with excitement at the sound of the lead singer of their favorite band acknowledging them in front of a room full of insane fans. The crowd cheered as the two girls ran to the stage and stood next to each other.
Simon continued, "These two nice girls, both big fans of mine, helped me and the rest of Duran Duran set up before the concert. Now, as a token of my gratitude, they get to pick a song of ours that we haven't played yet, and they get to sing main vocals with us onstage!"
The crowd went wild, and the two fans shrieked with nervous excitement. The crowd died down a bit, and Simon continued, "Now, girls, pick a song."
The two took the microphone and they both said in unison, "The Reflex."
Simon seemed a bit surprised at that moment. For in the back of the auditorium, in the very last row, he caught a glimpse of metallic silver hair.
He regained his composition and continued, "Ok! The Reflex it is." Simon handed each wide-eyed fangirl a wireless microphone and stood at the center of the stage, with a girl on either side of him. "Ok, let's get started!"
Duran Duran decided to do the radio version of the song. They started playing, the vocals sang out like the epicness of New Wave music, and the crowd went wild. The vocalists Simon, Cassie, and Sarah sang in a trio: Cassie sang the first verse, Simon sang the bridge, they all sang the chorus, Sarah sang the second verse, Simon sang the bridge, and they all sang the chorus. Then came the instrumental break. The band played it out like they meant it. Simon let Cassie and Sarah sing the bridge this time, then they and the entire auditorium, including The Reflex himself in the very back of the room, sang the final chorus. The song ended, and the crowd went crazier than fans at a football game. But then, the silver-haired child disappeared into the crowd.
Suddenly, the room grew dim. Lightning began to flash throughout the room, though strangely not causing any danger in the room. Suddenly, the back of the room lit up with a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder. Everyone shared a common thought: there's something here and no one knows what it wants.
There was a final flash of lightning concentrated at one point at the back of the room, and The Reflex emerged in the air floating above the crowd. Cassie and Sarah exchanged glances, then looked at Simon, and saw that he was in a state of complete and total shock.
"Oh my God… no way… there's just no way…" Simon whispered under his breath. The two fangirls looked at the rest of Duran Duran, and saw that they, too, were in a daze, but the girls did not know why.
The fangirls turned their attention to the silver-haired adolescent floating above the crowd. Suddenly the child spoke, "Simon LeBon, come forth!"
Simon stood there, staring at The Reflex in utter shock, trying without success to figure out why his brother would come to find him. Finally he gathered up the courage to speak, "Tommy, why have you come for me? What do you want from me?"
The Reflex began to chuckle slightly maliciously. "My dear brother," he began, "I have need to speak with you."
Suddenly, The Reflex raised a hand and quickly balled into a tight fist. There was a slight spark inside his hand that escaped it and began swirling around it. A crooked line of lightning surged from The Reflex's hand and straight towards Simon. It hit him square in the chest, knocking him backward. The crowd gasped in shock. Cassie and Sarah ran toward Simon, as did the rest of Duran Duran. The Reflex continued, "Aw, how touching. You are all worried about your all-famous band member." The Reflex chuckled again. Simon half-stood and glared at The Reflex, then said weakly but loud enough for the whole auditorium to hear him, "You're not the sibling I remember. What happened to happy-go-lucky Tommy LeBon? What happened to the superstitious child that kept four-leaf clovers in his pocket? What happened to the reminiscent soul that loved daily walks in the park? What happened to the  adventurous spirit that loved to go treasure hunting in the local caverns? What happened to my brother?" The crowd gasped quietly. The Reflex floated there, staring at Simon in shock. He gathered his bearings and spoke, "Simon, the one known as Tommy LeBon  is not alive anymore. I regret ever going by that name, and I am a new person now. I am The Reflex, and you should address me as such!"
"Tommy, I will call you by your true name, for you are my family member and I miss you. I miss the carefree days of sitting in the fields for hours drawing pictures and writing stories, I miss the days of playing in the backyard, but most of all I miss seeing you smile. Call me greedy, call me what you will, but all I want is to have you back at home. Is that so much to ask?"
"This is the only way for me to be well-known throughout the world. I've always tried to live with you taking the spotlight. To be honest, I was jealous of you. You were the most popular kid in school, while I was an outcast, a freak of nature. I hated my childhood. So I left to find a way to be as famous as you. I traveled the world and finally found a way to be heard and known the world over: I found a cursed pendant in one of the caves we used to travel. I tried it on, and instantly I gained power. I visited different cities and eventually became more famous than you and your little band." The Reflex chuckled a third time.
Simon was the next to speak. He glared at The Reflex and yelled as loudly as he could at his brother, "Tommy, you're insane! You're not famous, you're a criminal! You want to be well-known, well congratulations, you have become the most evil creature on the planet! Everyone knows about you because they hate what you've done!! If you wanted to be known, you should've talked with me first instead of leaving me without giving a reason! Now that I know your intent, and now that I know what has become of you, I can whole-heartedly say that I will never help you on your path to becoming someone of honorable recognition! I can't help you because I can't make you realize that becoming this evil monster that you are was not what you were supposed to do!!! I'm terribly sorry but I can't help you now! So I suggest that if you ever want my help then you should change your ways and go back to being my brother again!" The crowd then started applauding and cheering because of what Simon had said.  The Reflex just floated in the air, steaming mad at the fact that Simon could have said something like that to him and the crowd could whole-heartedly support him. He floated directly over to the second row of seats and descended to about seven feet above the crowd. He clenched his fists, which begun to spark with lightning. The crowd died down instantly. He raised a hand and sent a flurry of lightning bolts flying toward Simon. Each one hit him, and by about the tenth one, he was being pushed against the floor in the middle of the stage. The attack ended, and by then Simon just lay there in the middle of the stage, battered, broken, and motionless. The Reflex then disappeared with a flash of lightning. The lights flickered back on and a dazed crowd began to file out of the auditorium at the order of the bodyguards who had been watching from the hallway. Cassie, her mom, Geoff, Sarah and Duran Duran were the only ones allowed to stay in the auditorium. They all were on the stage now.
Cassie and Sarah quickly ran to the middle of the stage where the wounded singer lay still. Cassie's mom, Geoff and  the remaining band members did the same. Cassie placed a hand to Simon's heart, trying to make sure he was still alive. Suddenly, she brightened up and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Is he okay?" Sarah spoke with a worried quiver in her voice.
"He's alive. But barely. We need to get him somewhere safe."
"Ok, but where? There aren't any hospitals in this area."
"Well, Sarah, if there aren't any hospitals even remotely close to us, then we'll just have to improvise. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"You mean let Duran Duran stay with us until they're okay to get back on the road? Because if that's what you're thinking, then that's the best idea you've ever had."
Cassie laughed nervously, then her mom spoke, "Well, if Nana says it's okay, and I seriously doubt that, then sure. Then again we all saw it happen, so we have witnesses, and if we have witnesses, then Nana will have to believe us. Really the only thing we need now is for her to believe what happened here."
Cassie's mom took her phone from her pocket and dialed the house. Cassie's grandmother happened to pick up the phone on the other end of the line. Cassie's mom began to talk, "Hey, mom, yeah, we've got a bit of an emergency over here - no, we don't need you to pick us up - no, it's not a problem in our party, but a problem out of it - what do you mean be more precise? - Ugh, really, mom - look, do you want me to tell you the problem? - Ok, here's the thing. You know Simon, the lead singer, right? - Ok, good. Anyway, Simon's brother appeared out of nowhere and decided he was going to launch an attack on the auditorium. Or rather, an attack on Simon himself. Simon ended up getting knocked out. There aren't any hospitals even remotely close to us and I only have enough gas in the Jeep to get us home. And there's actually enough room in the Jeep for all of us, including the band. So, we need to house the five of them until they're ok to get back on the road - what do you mean you don't believe me??? Hey, look, all of us witnessed it, the entire auditorium saw it happen! It was serious enough for the bodyguards to force the crowd out of the building. We were the only ones allowed to stay because we have backstage passes and a personal letter from the band giving us permission to help them. We helped them set up before the concert. Cassandra knows Simon personally from earlier today when she got the passes from him - Ok, will do. Bye."
"So what did she say?" Cassie looked at her mom hopefully.
"As long as no trouble is caused."
Cassie, Sarah, Geoff and the remaining band members all breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
"So, how long do you think it'll take before he's up and about?" Andy Taylor, the lead guitarist of the band, seemed more worried about their injured member than usual.
"I'd say about an hour." Cassie was the one to respond. They were all standing in Cassie's room waiting for the singer to awaken.
"Well, if it's going to take an hour, what do you say to playing some Nintendo?" Sarah spoke next, trying desperately to lighten the mood.
"Actually, Sarah, I've got some work on Twilight Princess I haven't finished yet. I'd say it'll take a little under an hour to finish the game." Cassie replied to Sarah, then continued, directing her next question to the remaining band members, "Have any of you played a Zelda game?"
"Yes!" They all replied in unison.
Cassie laughed, then continued, "So, if all of you have played at least one Zelda game, which ones have you played?"
"All of them." Bassist John Taylor was the one to reply. Various exclamations of positive response came from the other band members.
"Great! Because I know that Sarah, my mom, Geoff and I have played through the game and beaten it a couple times."
"So we'll go downstairs and play. Sounds like a winner." Geoff spoke next.
"I think one of us should stay here. I'll volunteer." Drummer Roger Taylor had volunteered to stay until their injured comrade awakened. He continued, "I know that game like the back of my hand. I'd give away all the secrets. So the rest of you can just go and- "
"Haven't you forgotten me?" A weak voice came from behind them. They all turned around and saw that Simon had awakened sooner than they expected.
"Simon! You're awake! When did that happen?" Sarah said nervously.
"I've been awake since you started talking about Zelda." Simon laughed a little as he said this.
"Oh, sorry." Another nervous laugh from Sarah.
"What happened, anyway? I don't remember anything." Simon said this weakly as he placed a hand to his forehead, as if to wipe away sweat.
"Well, Simon, we don't really know what happened back at the Brady Theater. All we know is that The Reflex showed up and made a brave statement in front of the entire auditorium. He wanted to speak with you. He ended up knocking you unconscious. We all thought you were dead. Luckily, our first impressions were wrong." Sarah gave the full account of the story from what she got out of it.
"Hmmm. I wonder…" Simon trailed off, deep in thought.
"What's the matter?" Cassie seemed worried. She inquired with a doubtful tone to her voice.
"Oh, I was just wondering if, after I am back to full health, we could try to knock some sense back into my brother." Simon seemed half-doubtful and half-believing, but for what it was worth, his words mattered now.
"It's worth a try." This comment came from Geoff.
"Heck, If Geoff agrees then I agree!" Cassie spoke next in confident approval. The others followed suit with various signs of enthusiastic agreement.
Over the next hour, everyone made an effort to get Simon back up to full health. Cassie suggested plenty of water, her mom made some Japanese dishes (and they found out then that Simon really liked sushi), Simon and Geoff played the Nintendo Wii when Simon was in the mood for it, Sarah proclaimed her fandom by singing along with the Duran Duran music on Cassie's laptop (and Simon corrected her when she made a mistake), and everyone else did their part to help their fellow band member.
Eventually the time came for them to set out to find The Reflex. They all ended up taking weapons along, just in case. Nick, Andy, John and Roger had broadswords, Geoff and Cassie's mom had bowstaffs, Cassie had a katana, Sarah had a bow and arrows, but Simon preferred to fight without weapons. He wanted to take down his brother and knock some sense back into him.
They departed for the Brady Theatre, which was where The Reflex was rumored to be hiding. They arrived about 5 minutes later, and were shocked to find the theater in complete ruins. Trees were damaged, the doors were demolished, there were dents in the walls, a couple sections were knocked in. There were bloody corpses of guards lying all over the place. Blood was smeared all over both the outside and the inside of the building. They could barely see the inside from the outside, and they saw what they thought was a flicker of silver. They all took a couple steps, Simon leading the group, toward the building.
Suddenly, a crash came from inside, and The Reflex burst of out the caved-in ceiling, leaving a trail of blood behind as he flew out the top of the demolished theater. He landed a few feet away from Simon, just far enough away to not do any harm as long as he didn't use any magical attacks and didn't advance. The Reflex didn't have to try to intimidate, for he was smeared with blood. He suddenly absorbed it faster than you could say 'oh, crap'.
Simon stepped forward, and they all held their breath. He spoke first.
"Tommy, you don't have to do this. You don't have to run away anymore." Every bit of sadness could be easily heard in Simon's voice. His expression showed it, as well.
"I'm not running from you! I'm not running from anything! You know nothing about how I feel!" The Reflex retorted angrily, as if Simon had made an intense threat.
Simon was taken aback by his brother's sudden flash of anger. But he kept his calm and continued, "Tommy, I know exactly how you feel."
"No, you don't. You could never hope to understand my pain." The Reflex said, turning away shamefully.
"Tommy, listen to me!" Simon yelled, grabbing his brother by the shoulders and turning him around so he could speak to The Reflex face-to -face. Simon was in tears now, and The Reflex saw this. But he didn't see it as a chance to strike. Instead, he listened. Simon continued, "Fame is not what you think it is. Fame is not all glory. Fame is a hard burden to bear. I don't want that happening to you. Tommy, I care about you. You're my brother. And I miss you. I want you back, Tommy! Can't you understand that?" Simon yelled at his brother with all his emotion and feeling. He was truly sorrowful that The Reflex was so emotionless and cold-hearted that he could not realize who he really was. But now, as Simon screamed with squinting eyes and tears running down his face, The Reflex truly seemed like he had the heart to change his ways.
"Simon, I… I had no idea…" The Reflex was beginning to cry now. Simon smiled at his brother. It seemed like the battle was won. A heartwarming hug seemed to make the belief a fact… when suddenly, Simon felt a sharp, intense pain in his upper back, then a warm, wet drip down his spine. He collapsed to the ground. The Reflex had stabbed Simon in the back.
The Reflex spoke as he stared down at Simon, "I had no idea you wanted your brother back so badly. I'm sorry, but I can't do that." He then turned his attention to everyone else. He began to walk slowly toward the group.
"You really think that you can protect him?" The Reflex spoke evilly, his hair shining the brightest silver and his eyes glowing deep red. "You think that your little band will stay together when your lead singer is dead. You are pathetic fools to think something that stupid." The Reflex chucked with a sinister tone.
"Yes, we do. And we're not going to let an idiot like you get in the way." Cassie bravely stepped forward to face The Reflex. She continued on, "I'll defeat you myself if I have to! I won't allow Simon to die at the hands of his own brother!" Cassie then rushed forward to fight The Reflex. She drew her blade as she ran, then struck with unbelievable force. She and The Reflex fought like demonic beasts for about two minutes while the others, even Simon as he lay half-conscious on the ground, stared in awe as Cassie took on The Reflex single-handedly. The battle was fierce, even though by the time a minute and a half had gone by, Cassie had not a scratch and The Reflex had many injuries. He knew he was losing the battle, and to a fourteen year old girl.
"You see, everyone, that's why you never get in between Cassie and any of her heroes." Sarah said, still in awe, to all of the others, who were equally in awe."
By the end of the two minutes, Cassie knew she had been victorious. She stared down at The Reflex, who by this time was lying in a pool of his own blood on the ground. He looked up weakly at Cassie, at his conqueror, at the one who would always prevail when it was a battle for her friends.
"So you're The Reflex. Can I call you Tommy? I know that's your real name." Cassie said triumphantly, but with a bit of kindness in her voice.
"You can call me whatever you want," The Reflex said weakly, then continued, "just don't kill me." He said to everyone's surprise. He spoke again, "Please heal my brother, I don't care what you do to me."
Cassie kneeled down so she could speak to The Reflex without looking like she would kill him in a split second. "Tommy, I won't kill you. Just as long as you don't try to kill anyone else. Now if I heal you, will you heal your brother?" Everyone stared in awe at Cassie's kindness to the one she had so mercilessly beaten just a few minutes ago.
Cassie took a small bottle from her pocket and took an even smaller pill out of it. She handed it to The Reflex, and he accepted it.
"Take this, and it will heal you instantly." Cassie said gently.
The Reflex reluctantly took the pill, and almost suddenly, with a flash of light almost like a lightning strike, the pool of blood around The Reflex was gone, all his injuries were healed, and he was sitting upright staring at himself in awe. Cassie took another pill from the bottle and handed it to The Reflex.
She spoke, a bit louder but still gently, "Give this one to Simon. The same will happen with him."
The Reflex did as she said, and with the same flash of light, Simon was fully healed. He stood up and stared at The Reflex skeptically.
"Don't worry, Simon. I won't kill you. And don't call me The Reflex anymore. Call me Tommy." He spoke to Simon with kindness in his voice. He then threw down the knife that he had stabbed Simon with, to show that it really was Tommy LeBon behind that black trench coat.
"Tommy, is it really you?" Simon was still a bit skeptical, but he knew that he had gotten his brother back. A heartfelt bear hug and teary eyes secured the fact that Simon had reunited with his brother. Everyone else gathered around Tommy and Simon. Tommy proceeded to meet Sarah, Cassie, her mom, and Geoff. He already knew the other members of Duran Duran. After they were all well introduced, they started to walk towards the Jeep, which was still there.
An hour later found them playing video games in the living room. All Simon cared about was that he had gotten back a brother that had been away from him for so long. They were finally reunited.
Did I upload this correctly? God, I hope I did. Anyway, if this got uploaded correctly, here's a Duran Duran fanfiction I've been working on and just recently got done with earlier today. For those of you who have heard Duran Duran's "The Reflex" You will know what I'm talking about hopefully. Anyway this fanfic focuses on The Reflex, the main character of the song, and kind of gives him a personality.
Also, don't click on the text. I accidentally added a hyperlink underline to the body text. I did that to add a difference between the title and body text but not a size difference because if I did that then the body text would be too small. and please try to distinguish paragraphs. There's barely any difference and I don't know how to fix that.

Also, I have to give credit to my editor and best friend, Sarah, a.k.a. GZLSarah here on dA. Her support meant the world to me as we sat in my room and I read the different parts of the story to her. I especially liked when she laughed at some of the parts, like when I spoke with a British acent to say the lines that in the story are said by one or more of the Duran Duran members. Sarah and I had a lot of fun with this short story. I hope you enjoy it! (Sarah may or may not already know that I submitted this lol)
And of course I have to credit Duran Duran themselves for existing and being epic. The character of The Reflex is owned solely by Duran Duran (actually he isn't a character, he's a song), I turned him into an actual character, and his character design (you can find it in my gallery) is by me.

No silver-haired albinos were harmed in the making of this fanfic.
